How long have you been in the alternative hair business?

Opened Nov/2013

What inspired you to start this business?

Upon retirement as Director of Human Resources for an engineering firm, I wanted a twilight career; one I could give back to the community. Reviewed my skill sets over a lifetime: cosmetician, 2X cancer survivor, employee relations, benefits administrator and the passion for all that I do.

What kind of services do you offer?

Wigful Thinking is a full service alternative hair studio servicing many markets for fun, fashion, convenience and medical hair loss. In addition to wigs, we offer toppers, enhancements, maintenance services to include styling, washing/conditioning, defrizzing, full product and tool line, line, human hair eyebrows, brow and lash gel.

What advice would you give to someone looking to purchase wig / topper for the first time?

Always always rely on a true alternative hair professional. A wig purchase is an intimate purchase; one which requires the knowledge and compassion of an experienced person.

What is your favorite Jon Renau piece?

That’s a toughie; but if I had to pick: the European selection!

You are CORE certified, what would you say to someone who has not yet attended?

You cannot market you of your business as “professional” without CORE training.... and not just one time. Every year, every CORE educational training, Levels, I and II, provides the latest technology in the science of alternative hair. You cannot stop learning. As professional, you will be faced with many challenges. With the ongoing education from CORE, you will be prepared to address the challenges thus providing the correct hair solution for your client.

What changes have you seen in our industry in the past 5 years?

As my business is reaching a 5-year anniversary, I personally have seen the industry become more savvy. As said before, there is a science to alternative hair, and Jon Renau is “cutting edge” with the changes in the overall industry.

What do you believe is ONE of your success factors?

Passion for the industry.
