How long have you been in the alternative hair business?
I started in the alternative hair industry over 19 years ago! I got my start fitting women with hairpieces at women’s expos, county fairs, wedding expos, home parties, health & beauty shows, and finally by opening five mall kiosk locations throughout the Twin Cities.
In 2009, I had the opportunity to open a storefront at Rosedale Center in Roseville, MN. This was a great turning point in expanding my business and clientele. In 2016, due to lack of space and high customer demand for our products, I opened a second location with the help and management of my sister Sara in our hometown of Hastings, MN.
Fast forward to September of this year, we opened a larger Alternative Hair Wig Boutique in Roseville, MN. This newly opened location will offer additional salon services including seven private consultation rooms. Along with the larger location, we have expanded our inventory for our growing customer needs.
What inspired you to start this business?
There were many reasons I was inspired to start my business. First was the customers. I knew the products I could offer would change people’s lives. The enthusiasm my customers have for the products, along with the difference they make, continues to inspire me. Secondly, would be the products. I don’t know what I would do without my hairpieces, extensions and wigs. I enjoy wearing theses fabulous products every day. It makes life easy.
What kind of services do you offer?
We are a full service “Alternative Hair” Wig Boutique. At our Boutiques, you can simply walk-in or schedule your private consultation. On site, you will find thousands of wigs, accessories, care products, hairpieces, toppers, human hair extensions, and human hair wigs. There is basically something for everyone. If you want a fun fashion piece, or you are dealing with medical hair loss, we offer a variety of solutions in several colors, lengths, styles, and price ranges. Our services don’t end with your purchase, We also customize, style, wash, and deep condition your products.
What advice would you give to someone looking to purchase wig / topper for the first time?
Your best option is to set up a consultation at your local Wig Shop. Make sure they have good ratings, advanced training, and products on hand to make this a positive experience for you.

What changes have you seen in our industry in the past 5 years?
Toppers, Toppers, and more Toppers. My staff owns & wears multiple Jon Renau topper pieces. If you wear them and demonstrate how amazing they are, you set yourself apart from the other shops in your area.
What do you believe is ONE of your success factors?
Creating a kind, knowledgeable and caring environment. My creative staff enjoy working directly with the customers and helping them make the best decision for their personal look / lifestyle. Most importantly, I love what I do.
