How long have you been in the alternative hair business?

After 24 years as a stylist and owning my second salon and spa I decided to venture into the alternative hair business. Four years ago I began adding toppers to the salon business; two years ago we closed our spa and converted the building into a wig boutique that has recently evolved into a full service hair restoration center, which includes extensions, wigs, toppers and full hair systems.

What inspired you to start this business?

Having a relationship with someone that has battled cancer followed by permanent hair loss inspired me to start this business.

What kind of services do you offer?

For wigs and toppers we offer shampoo and styling, customization, alterations, and conditioning treatments. For full hair systems we offer our clients a full bonded service which includes: removal, scalp and system cleansing, and reapplication. We finish with a cut to perfectly blend the system with their biological hair.

What advice would you give to someone looking to purchase wig / topper for the first time?

The advice I would give is to take your time, do your homework, and find the most educated person or hair center to meet your needs. I would recommend checking out websites, Facebook pages, and reviews as well as scheduling a consultation with the hair center you are considering.

What is your favorite Jon Renau piece?

My all-time favorite piece would be Top Style because it has plenty of hair to create various styles to meet the client’s needs.

You are CORE certified, what would you say to someone who has not yet attended?

Attending CORE is a must, based on the education and knowledge you receive in alternative hair services. The knowledge you receive from Jon Renau’s education team as well as from other attendees is valuable beyond measure.

What changes have you seen in our industry in the past 5 years?

The advancement of the quality of craftsmanship in the products which would include the hair fiber, cap construction, and the home care products.

What do you believe is ONE of your success factors?

Surrounding myself with passionate people that care about our clients and their hair loss needs makes me successful. Also, without an educated, knowledgeable, kind team nothing else would matter.
