Mar 2nd 2022

At Jon Renau, we are known for our high quality, unique, and plentiful color selection. Our signature colors use multi-tonal blending to replicate the vibrant natural shimmer of healthy hair. We offer tipped, layered, shaded and highlighted color options to give every person an option for the look they want.

At first glance, the color chart seems complex with an assortment of numbers and letters, each having a specific meaning. It takes a bit of studying to become familiar with how to navigate the Jon Renau color chart.

Understanding alternative hair color codes will help you to understand a color beyond what you see in a swatch image. By being able to thoroughly visualize and understand color codes, this will help you make an informed choice when choosing a color for your next wig or topper.

Jon Renau offers a range from black through brunette, blonde, red and grey platinum options.

WHAT ARE THE COLOR FAMILIES?

Before we discuss color codes, it is important to have some understanding of the industry-standard color families. Reference this chart when translating a color code. For example, if your color code has the number 6, you will know that is a brown.

Black: 1, 2

Brown: 4, 6, 8, 10, 12

Blonde: 14, 16, 17, 18, 22, 24, 26

Red: 27, 28, 30, 31, 32, 33 and 130, 131, 132, 134

Grey: 34, 36, 38, 39, 44, 48, 51, 54, 56, 59, 60 and 92

Platinum: 101, 102, 104 and 613

Now let’s get to the color codes!

THE COLOR CODES

PRACTICE TIME!

Now, let’s practice what we just learned and break down a color code: FS26/31S6, also known as Salted Caramel.

As we just learned, FS stands for Fashion Syrup and means this color blend will have bold highlights. The colors that are being blended are 26 and 31.

If we reference our color families chart, we will see that 26 is a blonde and 31 is a red color.

The next segment of our color code is S6. The S means our color blend is shaded at the root with an additional color. In this case, it is color 6, a brown.

Jon Renau colors are second to none and this color-coding system was created to make it easier for wearers to find the perfect shade. We hope this gives you a better understanding of our beautiful colors!
